10 Things About Me :)

I absolutely love reading posts like this about other bloggers, so I decided to write one myself. I also really like reading surveys, so if anybody has any good suggestions for one of those, send it my way. These are completely random and in no particular order, but here’s the first ten things that popped into my mind that describe me best right now:

1. I love TV shows, but I hate movies. There are very select few movies that I will actually sit through without either falling asleep or just giving up on paying attention and playing on my phone or reading or something. I just feel like movies are typically too predictable, and why spend 2-3 hours watching something that I know how it will end anyway? On the other hand, I feel like TV shows have highs and lows and keep you guessing from week to week (or hour to hour if you binge-watch on Netflix like me). Plus I relate to the characters so deeply in my favorite shows that it’s rare for me to get through a show without crying. Might be odd, but I kind of love it? My all time favorites are Parenthood, Criminal Minds, New Girl, Parks and Rec, Game of Thrones, and American Horror Story.

2. I have a big passion for healthy living and exercise 5-6 days a week, meal prep every Sunday, and eat really healthy for the most part, but I also really love lazy days, wine, sour gummy bears, buffalo wings, hot cheetos, and when Chris and I spend hours on a Saturday afternoon trying a cocktail and appetizer at a bunch of new restaurants or bars.

3. I’m really introverted. Although I love spending time with my friends and family, too much social activity exhausts me. I used to be way more OCD about it than I am now, but I am still extremely organized and I like my routines. Change scares me a lot. I recharge in some odd and some obvious ways, like by cleaning, reading, sleeping, and yoga.

4. I was on The Ellen Degeneres Show when I was 21.

5. I studied abroad in Italy when I was in college and basically spent the entire time hiking to wineries, doing wine tastings, learning how to cook, eating, and exploring. The most beautiful place I went while there was Cinque Terre, and I also got to spend a few days with my cousin who lives a little south of Rome. A bonus fun fact – we stayed at the hotel next door to the Jersey Shore cast while they were there filming in Florence. Best people watching EVER.

6. I was a competitive dancer for ten years and actually started out as a dance major in college.

7. I am a certified personal trainer and nutritionist. When the time is right, I want to look into renewing those certifications and perhaps starting up a home and/or online business, but for now I’m content just giving out advice to my friends and family that ask for it.

8. Nothing makes me happier than sleeping in the summer with the window open, waking up naturally with no alarm on a Saturday morning, reading in bed until I feel like getting up, drinking coffee and eating breakfast on the patio, and having no set plans for the day except to maybe go explore somewhere new. Makes me smile right now just thinking about it.

9. Saying that I have three cats makes me sound like a nut, but I swear I’m not. I got the first two about 3.5 years ago. I originally only wanted to adopt one, but there were two left, and how can you say no to that? The third I got about two years ago, because my friend found her outside her parents house and the mom had abandoned her, and again – how can you say no to that? But no more cats now….hopefully a dog though?

10. I have certainly said this before, but I love to travel. My favorite way to do it is to go to a place I’ve never been before and just ask people what I should do, see, eat, etc. Chris and I did this last summer when we went to Louisville, Kentucky and ended up having the best trip either of us could have imagined.

I could ramble on for days with random facts, but that’s all for now. Isn’t it funny how sometimes when someone asks you to describe yourself or what you like to do for fun it’s near impossible to come up with anything and at other times you could talk about those things forever? I find that when I need to talk about myself (ie. job interview, meeting new people, etc.) I have a really hard time, but when I just do it naturally it’s super easy. A really good metaphor for most things in life and relates back to what people say about kids – when you tell a child they have to do something they won’t want to, but when it becomes their own decision, they want to do it. The older I get the more I think this is applicable to people of all ages instead of just children. It’s sometimes hard for us to admit, but we all secretly love that we get to make the decisions that help set the course for our life.

What’s the first random fact about yourself that pops into your head?
