Pregnancy – Week 10 Update

Written on March 5, 2018

Ten weeks sounds like a legitimate amount of time! Like, how can it be that I am already 25% done with this pregnancy?! I feel like it was just yesterday I was finding out, but it was already about six weeks ago. That is insane to me. I am so ready to be out of the first trimester and less nervous and telling everyone about the baby so I don’t have to keep this secret anymore and so I can celebrate with those around me.

This week we have a strawberry on our hands! Chris is pretty obsessed with calling our baby by whatever food it is the size of that week, so I never, ever forget just how big (or small!) our little guy is. Although our baby is only a bit over an inch long, I feel like he or she is huge when I look at an actual strawberry in real life haha.

If you are just joining in, you can see last week’s recap here and a link to all my previous pregnancy-related posts.

Progress Photos

No one else can probably notice the slight changes in my body from week to week, but I sure can. I just feel all-around “fuller” in my midsection, and jeans are definitely not comfortable to wear anymore, although I can absolutely squeeze into them if I have to. See my Snoogle hanging out in the background? That thing is a lifesaver in the sleep department….

Oh, and another side note? In these pictures I have been rolling my leggings down so you can see my stomach, but in real life they are so high-waisted that they are basically right underneath my bra. They are amazing, and I am sure I will be getting a few more pairs in different colors throughout this pregnancy. It is embarrassing how often I wear them.

Feeling

I am feeling okay. My main thing is that I am just so darn tired. I had a meltdown last week over a combination of being hungry and tired (God forbid!), and poor Chris had to help me out for the rest of the day. I feel so lazy and useless some days, and I have to remind myself that I am growing a human and need to cut myself a little slack. At first I thought it would be great to use exhaustion during pregnancy as an excuse not to do anything except lay on the couch and watch Grey’s Anatomy (which, don’t get me wrong, I have been doing plenty of), but it has actually become quite frustrating, and I just want my normal energy levels back!

On the other hand, my nausea is slowly but surely getting better, and I am very thankful for that. However, I have been getting some nasty, random headaches that really only go away with sleep. I am obviously feeling very bloated with some stomachaches here and there, and my skin is still breaking out like crazy (UGH).

All in all, I am feeling okay and I know many people have it worse than me, so I don’t want to complain!

Eating/Drinking

This category is pretty much the same as what I wrote about last week, but I am happy to announce that I am beginning to eat vegetables again! My salads may just be lettuce with cheese, croutons, and oil/vinegar, but it’s something! And luckily asparagus sounds good, and I can do carrots sometimes. It seems like I can tolerate veggies when they are mixed with something else, so I am trying to keep that in mind.

I am still craving fruit like crazy, but it seems like my need for carbs has slowed down a bit. Cereal is sounding amazing lately, so I have been having that almost every day (honey nut cheerios are my favorite).

Products Used

Nothing new since last week.

Fitness Routine

My exhaustion lately has been keeping me from some of the workouts I was used to, but I am still holding strong to my three weekly classes of barre, spin, and yoga. Other than that, I have been trying to get in 30-40 minutes of cardio (usually walking and/or the elliptical) and 10-15 minutes of strength training (I love the Tone It Up daily workouts) 2-3 other days of the week. I am pretty happy with that, but I do tend to feel better on my more active days, so I am trying to just move as much as my body will allow me to. This will be much easier once the weather is better in Michigan and I can just step outside for a quick walk whenever I feel like it.

I have been modifying the movements in my classes a bit, because as my doctor warned me, certain things just do not feel comfortable to me anymore. It is a good feeling to listen to my body for once in my life and not just always push myself to the limit. I have also been straying away from really any abdominal exercises, solely because I am a first-time mom and afraid of hurting my baby (even though my brain knows it’s a myth, my heart is telling me to just be careful).

Other

I am starting to get so anxious to buy things for our baby and start decorating the nursery! I am forcing myself to hold off until after our 14 week appointment, but it is really hard to resist every time I pass the baby section at Target. I am also getting increasingly excited to find out if we are having a boy or a girl, but that probably won’t happen until about 18 or 19 weeks. I am convinced it is a girl and Chris thinks it is a boy. I usually have really good intuition, so we’ll see who is right….. 😉

I have another appointment this week that my mom is going to with me, and I am really looking forward to experiencing that with her and hopefully getting to hear the baby’s heartbeat again!
