Pregnancy – Week 15 Update

Written on April 9, 2018

I am so happy to say that the appointment I was so worried about last week went wonderfully. 🙂 For the first time since I have been pregnant, I had some time alone with just my doctor – no nurses or interns or extra people in the room. It was so nice to spend 15 minutes or so with her just talking through a few things and listening to baby’s beautiful heartbeat. I am feeling so good that she confirmed that everything is going great so far and that I have nothing to worry about. Next step is another checkup at 18 weeks, followed by a detailed ultrasound at 19 weeks where we get to find out the gender!

Today I am 15 weeks pregnant, and our little buddy is the size of an orange. I also read on the app I use (The Bump) that he or she is starting to be able to hear outside sounds, so I have been making it a point to talk to it throughout the day. Chris also makes sure to tell it all about our day and say goodnight to it before bed, which I think is just adorable.

Progress Photos

My belly is definitely starting to pop out more, causing some of my girlfriends and family to comment on the fact that I am actually “looking pregnant.” I really need to buy some actual maternity clothes, not just leggings and long t-shirts, but I am trying to hold out until I am a little bigger and can actually fill them out better.

I don’t feel like there is any point in me showing you the picture from the front because you can’t really tell a thing, but oh well!

Feeling

Other than my little belly, I am feeling almost like I did before I was pregnant! I almost forgot what it feels like it feel “good,” haha. My main issue right now is that my acne is coming back – ugh. My skin is still significantly better than it was before, so I know the products are still effective, but it just seems like my hormones are going nuts again. I have a facial scheduled tomorrow to hopefully help out with it a bit, but overall I haven’t found anything that can really control it. It is so obnoxious and makes me not really want to go out in public, but I’ll take it as long as it means baby is growing strong and healthy.

Eating/Drinking

Same as last week – most things are still sounding good and my main craving is strawberries. I feel like I could eat an entire Costco-sized container every day, but I somehow refrain. Other things that are sounding great to me are:

  1. Really sour lemonade

  2. Ice cream (we got frozen yogurt one day last week and it was delicious)

  3. Protein shakes

  4. String cheese (I am embarrassed to say we actually did buy a Costco-sized package of these….)

Apparently I want only cold things? I didn’t really realize that until typing this post out!

Products Used

No new products used or purchased since last week. We are starting to get closer and closer to our first “big” baby purchases, like the crib and bedroom furniture. That will probably happen within the next month or so. I also think I want to start a registry this weekend with Chris, mainly to just have a list of everything we need/want.

Fitness Routine

There has been no change in my workouts in the last couple of weeks either. I did get some new clothes from Lululemon though that have been motivating me to get to the gym more and more. 😉

Other

Overall, I really enjoy being pregnant. I feel like it encourages me to take better care of my body and myself than I did before. I am more mindful during my workouts, and I exercise to be healthy – not to lose weight or to punish myself. I try to eat as many fruits and vegetables as I can and to make smart choices (for the most part….not always!) about what goes into my body. I do not drink alcohol or coffee. I slow way down and do not feel guilty for reading a book for three hours on a random Tuesday, taking a nap when I need it, or saying no to plans that I know will not serve me well. Pregnancy has almost been like a wake-up call for me. It has helped me to understand that in order to care for this little life growing inside of me, I need to take really good care of myself, too. Sure, I am really missing wine and hot yoga classes and am so looking forward to them when I am not pregnant anymore, but I sure do not mind giving them up for a while for a really, really good reason.

I continue to be amazed at how fast my pregnancy has been going so far. It is crazy how much can happen in ten months inside my body! If you didn’t believe in miracles before, growing a child will change your mind real quick on that one. Every single day I am grateful that my body is able to do this, and my heart hurts for those who want this so bad, but aren’t able to. We celebrated (not really haha) being married for six months a few days ago, and I cannot believe that in just about six months from now we will be a family of three.
